I'm talking TMC. I'm talking pre-1970. Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Bogey/Bacall, Monroe, Kim Novak, etc

What are your favorites? What are the best ones out there?

A few I've been watching lately:
Bell, Book and Candle
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
The pre-Lazenby Connery James Bonds
The Seven Year Itch
Rope

I love that movie so much! It's like a comfort film for me. One I watch as often as I can but sort of take for granted. I've never included it in any personal top tens but I really should. Have you seen the sequels, The Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among US? Absolutely fantastic stuff - especially Walks Among US. The kind of film that immediately makes me want to grow a square jaw, marry a sweater girl and live in 1950s Florida.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!!!

As much as I hate to admit it, I actually haven't seen either of the sequels. But I have heard of 'em. I must've seen the original at least 4 times though. I once caught it at this extremely old fashioned theater downtown on Halloween night, they were presenting it in (old school) 3-D, and even had an orchestra present! THAT was really neat.

A favorite "classic film" that I forgot to mention is Bunuel's The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz or Ensayo de un Crimen.

This one is pretty weird. Kinda slow, but it definitely deserves more attention than it gets.

If you ever get the time, you really must see them. I get the two sequels mixed up. It's the second sequal I like most, not the first: the one where the creature becomes an attraction at a Florida theme-park (shades of Jaws 3). Great stuff. One of those movies where it's impossible for me to pin down precisely what I love about it but if you're at all into that 50s Americana thing then you should really enjoy it. It even features a really early performance by Clint Eastwood!
