Bad news, all - veteran UK actor John Hurt has finally succumbed to his fight with cancer http://www.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/n...or-dies-age-77 Hurt appeared in well over 100 films, in addition to countless other appearances, and first broke through to international prominence with his role in "10 Rillington Place". I guess that everyone here has their own personal Hurt highlight, film-wise, but for me seeing his extraordinary lead role in Lynch's "The Elephant Man" at an early age was an early sighting for for me of his considerable talent. Anyway, RIP John, and thanks for all the many film memories.

I remember him mostly smoking tons of something in Midnight Express. for some reason I remember him in this movie out of everything else. he looked ancient then. being a prisoner and all. lack of food and sodomy for a hash charge. not him of course. good movie.
ill find it and watch again. its got Randy Quaid in it. |

He was an actor I was always glad to see in a cast list for a film. 2017 is shaping up worse for famous people deaths than 2016 already.
