This is happening in Japan tomorrow:
There is a raw video of MoE/Haino on Youtube from when the awesome norwegians toured Japan previously: https://youtu.be/pXXxymKu6is |

Mette Rasmussen is a sax monster, seeing her play with Haino would be a real treat.

I've experienced the MoE/Rasmussen configuration a few times when they toured Mexico back in December of last year. Always an absolute blast. Their album "Tolerancia Picante" testifies to that. This show in Japan (I think) is an improvisation party with all the musicians performing as a quintet (The Skaset, Guro Moe, Mette Rasmussen, Keiji Haino & Masataka Fujikake). Guro and Mette just played as a trio with Yoshimio of OOIOO/Boredoms a few days ago.The Skaset performed as a duo with Painjerk. That should have been really nifty, too.

The Mette Rasmussen & Tashi Dorji album on Feeding Tube is awesome too, it's also available as a DL on bandcamp. I got a tape she did with Jooklo Duo that is also excellent, but that Rasmussen/Dorji.... holy shit!

I do love the Jooklo Duo/Rasmussen cassette, and would have loved if they had released a recording of the Jooklo Moe Rasmussen collaboration which took place at Festival Music Unlimited 2016. Thank God for unofficial recordings, though. I picked up a copy of the Ultra Eczema release, "Bazuinschal", when Mette came to Mexico with MoE. The cover looked straight away as a Dennis Tyfus artwork, and I thought it sort of depicted Mette's playing very consistently: It is a drawing of her playing the saxophone and the sound coming out of it is presented as some sort of human(oid) screaming entity. MoE + Mette Rasmussen's new record, "Tolerancia Picante", is a fucking slayer, but I think the live show has taken things even further judging by what I witnessed during their tour of Mexico not so long ago. I hope some tapers from Japan have recorded these recent shows. It all has mutated into something even greater and more powerful than what's on the album. Anyway, I dare to speculate and dream of a collaborative record between MoE and Keiji Haino. Wouldn't that be so cool? |

recording from a set back in 2018 at urbanguild in kyoto, was at this show and stoked to get a recording, one of his more 'advanced' electronics shows of the ones I've seen, advanced being a byword for universe-swallowing, and purchases go to keeping urbanguild open which is a vote for humanity
https://keepurbanguild.bandcamp.com/album/--5 also this once passed me by from last year: his set in shenzhen from a few years back now, replete with a fucking breathtaking version of koko, both sides featuring a structure of black hole electronics into guitar flexing. https://oldheavenbooks.bandcamp.com/...g-of-blackness

Keiji Haino & Guro Moe's "Drums & Octobass" is released officially today through Guro's label Conradsound. Two editions available: The CD includes a really long track, unavailable anywhere else. It's all improvisation ranging from the beautiful and subtle all the way through the really wild. It all sounds really crisp and every sonic detail could be appreciated. It seems originally it was intended for drums and octobass as the elements of this collaboration but just as things were being recorded, interactions with other instruments (keyboard and harmonium, for instance) were added as they caught the attention of Haino-san. Vocals are very prominent and really impactful, too.
