Vakio is also a great album from them from the time when they were still called Panasonic. I've read on a site about this collaboration and the Berlin gig. It should be interesting. I do have to say, though, that Pan Sonic's occasional sound installations are very poor.

That piece looked like an electric fire emanating static electricity. Not very good at all. On the other hand, the Lee Ranaldo video acoustic guitar, the Marclay piece and the amazing Philip Jeck scaffolding dansette record player tower were all superb.

Who was it that had the room of gongs? Russell Mills, perhaps? That was good too.

bump.
Anyone going tonight? Melvins show was pretty great yesterday. Rotterdam film festival - Live film performances: January 28th: live Melvins film performance of BB/Spook House/Kranky Klaus January 29th: live Keiji Haino film performance of JO January 30th: live film performance with Keiji Haino and the Melvins playing together with all four films simultaneously projected and mixed at once. I still have a ticket to get rid of for tonight, so anyone interested PM me your mobile number...although to be honest I don't think it's going to be sold out by any means. |

God, I wish he'd come around this way, but I don't see it happening... I did get the pleasure of introducing Haino to somebody the other day, I love when I can do that...

thanks for the recommendations for Pan Sonic! i haven't acted on it, but i still hope to do it in the next few days, weeks... or months... we'll see...
anyway, the keiji haino + pan sonic concert was excellent... it was strange to see Keiji Haino against heavy beats at times, sometimes it felt like they were fighting against each other, sometimes it meld perfectly together... but in any case, it was lovely. KH played all sorts of instruments, and all of it was wonderful. especially when he was playing on that small stringed instrument. |
