Why sad? They grew up, good for them they were able to leave the nest instead of falling to the ground with their eyes still closed like sometimes happens to unlucky little birds (yeuch!). But maybe your statement was some sort of metaphore i failed to understand....

It's a dull cloudy day, getting quite wintery, and lack of sunshine makes me miserable.

I know what you mean...
Option 1. Toaster. Option 2. Hot sauna. Option 3. Vacation to a sunny place. You probably know which one I'd go for. |

This wild cat left half a mouse again on my patio. They like to eat the heads.

I saw a hawk yesterday. He was on the ground and looked like a sculpture for a second, then slowly got the huge wings flapping while ascending.

About a week ago there were two very large hawks around for a few days.

no, birds in holland usually build their nests in belgium or germany. they would make them in holland, but it takes more paperwork here to get a building permit. they're entitled to low-rent subsidised housing though. |

so belgium now too, eh? poor birds... on top of that it hasn't become any easier for them with all these European laws that the EU imposes on them.
