Anyone ever notice how everyone ignores Jet Set Trash and No Star? Anyway, I agree about the book ending abruptly too, but I loved reading about early days, and the lead up to Thurstons book with B Coley was extra special. I wish there wasn't so much focus on Thurston and Kim though. Lee is King, and no one carries the feedback on their shoulders like Steve does. Not to take anything from T and K, of course, I love them all.

this book is totally worth reading, but the tone does seem a little depressing at times. in the sense that they sorta for a while thought they were gonna hit it big in the early 90's but didn't. i feel like that was a big theme in the book. which im sure at the time it was felt. i feel like sy are so comfortable with who they are, that yeah maybe at that point it was a bit of a let down but they got over it. i feel like the book didn't really give creedance to the little niche they carved out for themselves in the later 90's and into the 00's. in the book it seems like it was all a let down after daydream like someone said. but there was a ton of shit i didn't know about before. like more info into when lee almost quit during the genetic fiasco or that kim dated danny elfman when they were teenagers. anyways, read it. its great. mostly.

Dirty was my first Sonic Youth album. It was a great starting point. Sure it isn't the best, but it's one of their most rocking albums. There were a few songs that should have been B-sides and not album tracks.
There is an album's worth of awesome songs on it: 100% Drunken Butterfly Theresa's Sound World Wish Fulfillment Sugar Kane JC Orange Roll's, Angel's Spit Swimsuit Issue |

If you were annoyed by Goodbye 20th Century, then I recommend that you don't go within 100 metres of Psychic Confusion.
