also, domains propagate via a network of servers around the globe-- some catch on sooner some later

i just entered the numerical IP address of the server. 216.70.73.169

this bypasses domain name servers

DNS is just like a phone book

you ask for a name (sonicyouth.com) and it gives you a number (216.70.73.169)
