His Holiness Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the Head of one of the oldest Churches in Africa is coming her on Friday for a three-day official visit to Ethiopia, the embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Addis Ababa announced on Wednesday.
The visit of his Holiness is said in view of strengthening the historical and special relationship between the two churches in particular and the two nations in general.

"This visitation comes to revitalize the historical and very special relationship between the two churches," Egyptian ambassador to Ethiopia Tarek Ghoneim told a press conference at his office.
"The countries strategically placed of two countries that can play a very strong role in Africa," the ambassador said indicating trade and agriculture as a major areas to work with The ambassador noted that there was a role the two sisterly countries, both ancient civilizations could play in reviving the lives of the continent The ambassador said the visit was a continuation of His Holiness Abune Paulos's similar visit to Egypt last July.
His Holiness will be welcomed to a warm reception on his arrival at the Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa his by his counterpart Patriarch of Ethiopia Abune Paulos Patriarch of Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the ambassador said adding, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi was scheduled to attend the ceremony.
During his visit, the ambassador said his Holiness Pope Shenouda III will meet and hold discussion with senior government officials including FDRE President Girma W. Giorgis.

Last July, Abune Paulos, Patriarch of the Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum and Echegue of the See of Saint Tekele Haimanot was in Cairo by the invitation of Pope Shenouda III of Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church, to mend fences as the two "sister churches" have long had a love-hate relationship.
The two churches have been linked by very intimate relations since the early centuries of Christianity, as both are children of St. Mark the Apostle.
In 1994, upon request of the EOTC, they gained Autocephaly (independence) from the Coptic Church. Both Churches still belong to the See of St. Mark and both confess one Orthodox Doctrine.

His Holiness' visit is the first visit of the Egyptian Patriarch to Ethiopia in over thirty years, though Abuna Paulos has made several trips to Egypt. It is a precedent setting event, as the Ethiopian Church has been subject to Alexandria for 1600 years, as they faithfully maintain the subjugation to the Pope of Egypt according to a clause at the Nicean Council in the fourth century.

you should be careful, Abuna Paulos was just recently quoated saying that only he and a select number of bishops new of the exact location of the ark of the covenant...
