honestly, WoW is the best RPG out there.
I've been hooked on these types of games since Ultima III for the Apple IIe, and WoW's managed to keep me busy for four years. that said, if you want a game that you can (completely) beat/win in less than four years, it might not be for you. |

that's the thing about WoW. you don't HAVE to dedicate anything to it. it's become extremely casual friendly lately. even leveling up has been nerfed to a point where it goes 3x faster than it used to.
for me, it's a matter of "do I want to drop $60 a month on a new game or pay $15 to play WoW". the entertainment value is too great to pass up. |

I have to say that "new" RPGs really do suck ass. I played FFX for a while, but I got so bored. I mean, the graphics are stunning. But if I wanted to watch a movie, I would. There was nothing in the game that felt like the FF I played on a NES in the late 80s/early 90's. I got so bored waiting around to actually get to do SOMETHING.
So far the closest thing I've seen to a great RPG that feels like a classic RPG is probably Dragon Quest VIII. |

i recommend stalker for the pc. its kinda first person shooter but there is way more to it than that and there are some parts that are generally scary as hell.

FFX and FFXII are awful. I loved Dragon Quest VIII but I seem to remember Toilet and Bowels not enjoying it. And he said he didn't want random battles or whatever. So, again.. Persona 4.
Really, I'd just buy Disgaea... |

I got Persona 3 because Persona 4 isn't coming out in the UK until Easter. What's Digital Devil Saga?

I agree, one of the best over the top rpgs with a fresh style. the only thing is that the character graphics just suck. the backgrounds are great with their perspective bending optic. another one, more an adventure but totally overseen since its release... blade runner the game is the perfect example of how to convert a overwhelmingly good movie into an overwhelmingly good adventure without copying the story but building one around (!!!) the movie, with a shitload of different endings, superb synchro awesome soundtrack, and still atmospheric stunning settings. and its overwhelmingly cheap, too. |

suikoden is a great series. I havent played 4, but from what i hear its best that i dont. but i probably still will. Also the Knights of the Old Republic is a fantastic suggestion, and I fully agree with that recommendation.
out of suikoden series, 2 is considered to be the best in the series; however, 2 is also nearly impossible to find. It is impossible to find for less than 80 dollars. Go figure. It is also a ps 1 game, where as 3 was very VERY good, and had pretty decent graphics. 5's graphics arent as good as 3's, but the game play i think is a little bit better. mario rpg? Oblivion is fantastic.
