I dnt know if anyone remembers the Together Retro game club I've talked about before. Anyway, this month it's Punch-Out!! (Each game in the series has its own thread). Check it --
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/toget...ut-series.html I'm rocking the NES version. And will probably work on the SNES version as well.

I only have the NES version, but I fucking rule all at that. I still have the warp to Mike (or Mr. Dream) code memorized. 007 373 5963. I want to pick up the Wii version sometime soon.

you love Racketboy but don't know Together Retro?
It's the monthly game club where everyone plays the same game for a month and discusses it.

I just look at racketboy's lists of unknown games and stuff, I had no clue they had some club. Sounds neat though. It's like a book club.. for games. How nerdy and fitting of them. Haha.

You know what?
I think I will play this tonight. I've never actually gotten all the way to Mike Tyson before. Has anyone ever played Ring King for the NES? It's not nearly as much fun as Punch Out!!, but it's in-between rounds animations look hilariously similar to fellatio. |

Mike is a push over as long as you're good at dodging. same with Super Macho Man. Sandman is a motherfucker, though.

I just beat Mike Tyson! Fuck yeah! No warm-up, I warped straight to him and TKO in the 3rd round (which is the only way you can win unless you win by decision) after not playing Punch Out for like 6 months. Still yet, I can only beat Sandman like once every ten times.

I used to play the NES version a lot on Animal Crossing NGC (you can play the full original game). Great game. I'm pretty sure I beat Mike Tyson / Mr Dream once but I can't remember.

That's actually how I'm playing. I've never beat Mr. Dream/MT, but I've also never used cheat codes, etc.

Sandman is easy on NES if you know the pattern. Macho Man and Tyson is what always gave me trouble. The wii version is pretty fun. Don Flamenco is still a bitch and Sandman is super tough in this one.

I'm up to Sandman now. I can sort of handle him, but I can't seem to dodge those crazy fast uppercuts he does.

even when i got it new, i was sick of it by the end of the week...don't get me wrong, it's an amazing game, but hardly one to play for so much time. |

I wont necessarily play it for the entire month. Depends. If I beat it or get sick of it I'll stop. Maybe I'll play Super Punch Out for half the time. Don't know. It's just that the month is dedicated to discussion and playing the game. Like someone else mentioned, sort of like a book club. Maybe it won't take you the whole month to read the book. But it will be a month before the next game.

The 3 punches he does after flashing are the hardest to dodge in the game, worse than Super Macho's spin punch, and much worse that Mike's one-punch-knockdown.

For some reason Sandman is really easy to me. It's those fucking multiple spin punches that Super Macho Man gives that always fucked me up. My old man used to dominate Tyson and Macho Man every time. I would be in shock because he would do it first try every time! Super punch out was the one I was really good at. I'm pretty sure I can beat it in less than 30 minutes. |

Yesterday I played up to Mike without a loss, even beat Sadman on the first try, but got nailed by one of Mike's punches a minute into the first round, so I just turned it off. I might try again today.
