some good things happened this year. i didn't really discover anything new, but some highlights were t. moore + tony conrad + rhys chatham, dmbq + afrirampo, and ramblin jack elliot

there always seems a lot of bands that would turn up in my dream festival at sxsw, maybe i'll be able to afford to go some day

I really wanted to go.

Xiu Xiu was there and DMBQ + Afrirampo. Just those two alone would be worth it for me.

DMBQ and afrirampo were a-mazing! afrirampo put on one of the best shows i've ever seen.

i was at "sexswaah". i think the only "new" band i saw worth a damn was Die!Die!Die!

but my highlights (in order, of course) were:
meeting thurston and rhys chatham (and seeing them play)
afrirampo
DMBQ
volcano!
shellshag
and getting a station ID from kyp malone from tv on the radio.

i haven't heard of any recording surfacing yet, but i'm sure some will start popping up around the start of the summer.
