I haven't been able to see jackshit for about a month now. And now all of a sudden, I can access everything again ... only to find a board stagnant since early January. I swear, this place is turning into a mystery box.

i mean threads are still not updating correctly, there are duplicate posts, image links insert themselves where they want to not where you tell them, and so forth.

in other words, open again, but still hobbled. and did you see the snoopy photo the other day? hah!

Yeah, the sitch is dire. I'd think of a witty remark, but nah, it eludes me. Ain't nothing funny about a megalomaniacal little man playing war games and completely disregarding the sovereignty of a nation.

yeah no i don't think it's funny, i just have that mexican thing about laughing at death (impending or otherwise)

 

it's an interesting culture definitely. ever been there?

anyway i just wanted to say a preemptive goodbye to my internet friends in case of sudden fiery death amidst hacker-induced communication breakdown.

I get the notion. It's just one of these days when my capacity for partaking in that sort of thing is running low. Weird to say, but I gotta be in the mood for that doomy kind of humor.

Never actually been to Mexico. But the jovial/festive approach to handling death is very fascinating to me. I know a few people who are either from Mexico or have spent a good amount of their life there, but we haven't discussed the whole Día de los Muertos theme much, though I have heard quite a few other interesting anecdotes. This theme just hardly ever came up in conversation. And I'm not the type of person to pester people about very specific parts of culture I've been made aware of (and most likely in very stereotypical ways, because that's how most media rolls).

Anyway, I have my days when I indulge in cynical doomer humor - sorry to plug here, but since the board is pretty dead and this thread doesn't have much of a purpose anyway - I think you might enjoy this story I wrote in November. It's probably the best written content I ever put out. And it pretty much starts with humanity being extinct - that's a premise with endless possibilities, I tell ya. Anyway, I think it could be up your alley.
