I have a high percentage of vinyl-hoarding mates. I can't think of a single one who likes 7"s. I've got a load of them, but I'll be buggered if I know the last time I listened to one.

I have 1200+ 7" singles and listen to at least a few of them at least 3 times a week.

wow what a waste of time this sounds to be, i shop at my favourite independent at least twice a week, I'm already supporting them. Preaching to the converted nver really works. Maybe I'll tell them not to give me discount...

it sure sounds petty to have music fans bitch and moan about an attempt to create a national buizz about independent record stores. fucking crybabies.
no one is forcing you to participate. If it gets more people aware that indie record stores exist near them then I am all for it. I have been saving my money and me and three friends are gonna hit 4 different record stores in Houston area that saturday, and the browsing will be intense.

I bought the West Coast Punk Rock Orchestra 7" (w/Nels Cline and Mike Watt) for $1 at Academy Saturday. I have 3 boxes of singles. I've recently purchased singles by D. Charles Speer, GHQ, Killing Joke (80's) and Nonhorse (Lucas Crane of vanishing voice). Singles rule. They have at least 50 year track record. have fun downloading your vapormusic from Apple.

I hear ya man.
It does seem to be cashing in on the current vinyl "fad" if it can be called that. I just can;t stand seeing people "DJ" with an Ipod or with a couple of CD players. hahah! I did not know tehre were so many 7" for sale for this. i thought it was just matador with a few select releases.

you work in a record store or something? Is that how it is being forced down your throat? As for the vinyl "fad", I never got rid of my turntable or records, it never ever crossed my mind. I have tons of Cds as well, and cassette and DAT. I don't think this is a 'fad' - people who love music love listening to vinyl. and there are scientific reasons for this. |
