http://hardcoregaming101.net/book.html
hey guys, I'll put put up a blog post later today , but I'm so excited about this. HardCoreGaming101 has been working on a book for a couple years now and it's finally done. It's a complete history of the "golden age" of adventure games. If you know HG101, then you know this is serious and thorough reading. It's a huuuuuuuge tome worthy of the HG101 name, as it's a real education in the genre. and of course I'm so honored and excited that Kurt included a (short) essay I wrote on Scooby-Doo Classic Creep Capers for GBC. Full info, table of contents and link to order the book at the link above.

that said, I still use the phrase "let's blow this taco stand" as used in the game Space Quest (I).
that phrase along with ZZ Top playing the Mos Eisley cantina make Space Quest a permanent nostalgic favorite (despite nobody ever understanding my constant references) although, granted, it's no hardcore Scooby Doo. |

yeah. Scooby-Doo on GBC is actually an amazing homage to Maniac Mansion.

Aw man, this is incredible. I'll buy this just for the cover. This is absolutely my favorite genre of gaming. I love that their covering all the bases, not just hitting only the famous stuff with Sierra and Lucasarts, but also looking at those stranger titles like Uninvited and Mission Critical.
And cruising the contents, wow, tons of great looking stuff here. An article on Harvester? I definitely want to read that one. I'm glad that they acknowledge some of the more recent freeware stuff too. I'll enjoy reading that article on the Chzo Mythos, those games are terrific. edit: My singular beef though, looking through the contents again. Where is Mystery House? That game is the genesis for graphic adventure games. It absolutely needs to be there. Either way, only a very small gripe.
