I just witnessed an advertisment that was a direct rip off of a particular scene in the simpsons. The scene I mean is when Moe is hooked up to a lie detector, with two lights. A red one (which lights up and buzzes when a lie is detected) and a green one (Which lights up and dings in the opposite scenario), and he is asked a series of questions, and at the end when he is allowed to go, he says something like "Good, because I got me a hot date (red light, buzzing)" Anyway, I just saw an ad for crunchy nut and they ripped off that scene. Like even the end where he says "good, because I have a date".
Has anyone else seens other ads that blatantly rip jokes from tv shows and movies? I've noticed quite a few, If I remember any I'll post em. |

On a similar note, does anybody remember that TV ad (for some brand of peanuts?) that did a version of the opening scene in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories? I think the ad used Rebel Yell as its soundtrack.
Looking back, it was a quite strange reference to use. |

I don't know, but my wife claims to have "only glanced" at the TV before uttering the words "I can't believe somebody came on a talkshow to complain about that Geico caveman". she said it was weeks later before she realized that it WAS a commerical. brilliant.
oh how I laugh when it comes on. |
