can't say he's not getting weirder. the first church of lenny kravitz has served him well: Liner notes for PIXARNI: THERE ARE MANY THEORIES THAT ATTEMPT TO EXAMINE/EXPLAIN THE E.T.ABDUCTION PHENOMENON, SOME EXPERTS ON THE SUBJECT HAVE FOUND A CONGENITAL RELATION BETWEEN THE “CLOSE ENCOUNTER EXPERIENCE” AND THE UNCONSCIOUS MIND. THE ABDUCTION ORIGINATING FROM REALMS OF CONSCIOUSNESS SO FAR HIDDEN WITHIN OUR MINDS THAT WHEN THEY SURFACE THESE ASPECTS OF SELF ARE LITERALLY FOREIGN OR ALIEN THOUGHTS,RAISING OUT AS A VIVID DREAM,AS AN ALIEN CRAFT DESCENDING OUT OF THE DEEP SPACE THAT IS THE INNER MIND.THIS FANTASTIC DISPLAY, A SYMBOLIC REGISTRY OF THE MIND’S NETWORK MESSAGING A CODE OF THE SELF UNTO ITSELF, WHERE THE "ABDUCTION" IS THIS COMING INTO AWARENESS OF THE "DEEP SPACE" EVENT.OTHERS RELATE THE MORE NIGHTMARISH ABDUCTION PHENOMENON TO THE TRAUMA OF THE BIRTH EXPERIENCE.WHICH CONSIDERING THE DESCENT THROUGH THE BIRTH CANAL, THE MEDICAL LIGHTS, THE COLD HANDS OF THE DOCTOR IN CONTRAST TO THE WOMB,THE EMBILICAL CORD AND,IN SOME CASES THE CIRCUMCISION RITUAL, IT’S EASY TO SEE THESE EXPERIENCES EMERGING LATER IN LIFE IN THE DEAD CALM OF NIGHT IN THE FORM OF A SUDDEN EXTRATERRESTRIAL ABDUCTION. SOME HAVE RELATED THE PHENOMENON TO EXTERNAL EXPOSURE TO SOUNDS AND VIBRATIONS EXPERIENCED BY THE HUMAN EMBRYO WHILE IN THE PHYLOGENY OF THE REPTILIAN-LIKE STAGES OF OUR PRENATAL DEVELOPEMENT. PIXARNI IS COMPRISED OF TWO PIECES REPRESENTING THESE 3 THEORIES.THE FIRST TRACK “UNKNOWN VISITORS” IS MUSIC AFTER THE DREAMTIME ABDUCTION WHERE SOFT FOCUSED PARTS OF THE SELF DESCEND OUT OF THE DARKNESS OF OUR INNER SPACE AS NOCTURAL LIGHTS FROM PLANETS UNKNOWN INTO OUR AWARENESS WHILE THE SECOND TRACK “R-COMPLEX” IS A COMPOSITE OF THE TRAUMATIC BIRTH/AND PRENATAL EXSPOSURE THEORIES MEANT TO PLACE THE FOCUS ON THE PSYCHOLOGICAL REALM OF THE PHENOMENON. FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON THE WORLD OF E.T.PHENOMENON READ “INJURY AND THE CLOSE ENCOUNTER PHENOMENON” BY Jim Stevens ________ on first listen, they aren't as lush or layered as the clears or heavens gates of old. shorter tracks, some bizarre xmas holiday samples. disjointed. have only listened to them once, not my favourite ferraro releases but still cool. on air is prob my favourite, channel 3 is a really nice closer. |

This guy's all over the place. Makes some really interesting drone, almost makes some odd cut-up stuff in the vein of Brian Ruryk, Gastric Female Reflex, Runzelstirn and Gurgelstock.. only not as weird. Supremely lo-fi. Interesting, usually, and good often. He should soundtrack a Ryan Trecartin film.

Thanks. I've got like 20 of his albums. He's another one of those dudes with a billion albums. I have all the Emeralds, Mcguire, etc etc etc up to a point. All the Robedoor, Pocahaunted, like 200 Merzbows, 100 Wolf Eyes, all Nurse With Wound, all Sun City Girls/solo projects/related, almost everything any member of the Boredoms has ever been involved in, all Fahey.. actually, pretty much every "solo acoustic guitar" album you can think of, probably 200 CD's of just that shit... etc. I have like 50 live Number Girl albums. I'm not "bragging", anyone can get this stuff via internet means, though some have obviously been difficult to find.
What I'm really trying to say is, I have OCD, as everyone knows. I get to a point where it's almost crippling. I just.. I HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL. It makes me just stop and think, OKAY. I GOTTA HAVE EVERYTHING. MORE THAN I CAN EVER FULLY ENJOY. Though, honestly, I have listened to all the stuff I just mentioned -- a lot of it, multiple times. But I am trying to control my obsessions. I could see myself getting obsessed with Ferraro. I just haven't gotten around to it... yet. No way can I get obsessed with Skaters though. They have like 5000 albums! The ones I've heard haven't impressed me too greatly, actually... it just sounded like nothing, just no fi stuff, they do this conceptual "packed in dirt" stuff; again, I think I got my weirdo noise niche covered with Runzelstirn and Gurgelstock (who I have like 50 albums by also haha). But if you could reccomed some good releases, I'll check em out. Just trying to be careful not to get too crazily obsessed! |

the skaters don't actually have that many releases. if they had 5000 i'd be in heaven. but if you were to d/l the wrong one first then i can see how you wouldn't be impressed.
the best skaters releases are - dispersed royalty ornaments dark rye bread physicalities of ingrediential stairways talking head as for ferraro - mulitopia is my fav but heaven's gate, clear and discovery are the most popular. im still in the process of re-d/ling all my collection due to loosing 100gb of files which contained all my skaters stuff. large collection of skaters/ferraro/related i'd also recommend the wooden cupboard and nirvana projects. |

Wow, that link is gold, I know what I'm doing today...
Make sure and read that thread I posted, though, it's quite hilarious, especially the part where James rips off a guy, the guy files a paypal dispute, and James says "don't order from me again until you're an alien from the future." or whatever. Hah!?! |

yeah ive been doing the same. i'll post some more links later today when i find them all again.
but in between downloading i have to move a 150watt amp up to my friends house. my ex roommate the ultra christian has tracked me down and is coming round looking all his shit. understand i'm not doing it for me, the amp deserves better, i have some fucking respect for it, im not going to let it get used for any more christian rock. he can have his fucking strats back after i harvest their innards. im like james ferraro hahahaha. that thread is pretty funny. sucks that they got ripped off. but still if i was homeless again i cant say i wouldnt do the same. if you can afford to spend 350$ on cassettes then its prob best that some homeless bum gets it instead. |

reminds me of the time i went up to belfast to see erase errata. the show wasn't very packed and they were selling fuck all merch. i bought an lp, a 7 and a zine off them. then i realised my friend wasnt gonna show up, so i had nowhere to stay, so i had to ask them for a refund on the LP so i could afford a hostel for the night.
then they started to play, and halfway thru their set jenny said "yeah we lost ALL our money in the back of some taxi in scotland so we're totally broke". and i felt like a total shithead. and barely anyone bought any merch off them. |

that sucks. that band was amazing -- first two albums only, I mean. What the FUCK happened to them? Great band. Scissor Girls, Erase Errata, Bride of No No.. all excellent modern no wave type stuff with girl singers who were awesome.. damn.

jenny is in lesbians now. i wish they would get back together with the earlier line up. they never fufilled their potential |

Crystal was such a good album. The weird bass, the weird guitar playing, and some of the songs were downright epic. I liked the band a lot because they basically took the best elements of no wave and condensed it, purified it in this nice little catchy form. Could've been really annoying, like the similiar-minded SICK LIPSTICK, but is actually quite briliant.
You've heard Bride of No No right? Amazing band, we're talking 10 minute no wave/progressive epics. Weird bent distorted no wave riffs that make Polvo look silly, with harmony vocals, and time changes galore. Done in an intentionally sloppy, gross manner. Brilliant. All the members except the singer were mysterious, identities never revealed, though they were billed as a super group, and the members were far too talented to just be any nameless jerks. I think one album was recorded by Steve Albini and one by Jim O'Rourke, if memory serves me correctly. |

Sorry ... produced by Steve Albini, mixed by Jim O'Rourke. Just like Joanna Newsom's YS! Hah!
