First of all, calling myself a big Dylan fan is a very large under statement.
Mr. Dylan is playing a mere two hours away on Sept 22.. I have a night class that day, but I really don't give a fuck. Tickets are $58. So, that's over 100 just for my Dad and I. I was really gonna go, then I watched some youtube videos of Dylan live from the 2010 tour, and I just don't know now.. I love nearly everything Bob Dylan has done, but some of the old songs (that have been re-worked) don't appeal to me so much. But, of course I can't blame him for doing his songs a little different (some of which he's been playing sense the mid sixties).. I know he'll sound much better in person. I'm just really not sure. |

No, he won't. I used to be a super huge Bob Dylan fan, and his concert was the worst one I've ever seen by a mile. He turned every song into a boring 12 bar blues tune and they all sounded exactly the same. Furthermore, you could tell he really didn't give a fuck about the concert either. Save your money and don't go. |

I saw Dylan at New Orleans Jazz Fest with my dad in 2006 and it was incredible. Great mix of classics and lesser known stuff, with killer performances of All Along the Watchtower, Highway 61 Revisited, and Ballad of a Thin Man.
Even if Dylan is phoning it in that night, you can still expect to enjoy a killer backing band. When I saw him he had this young multi-instrumentalist who really impressed everyone. Plus, I hear Dylan is picking the old guitar back up.

It seems to be musical blasphemy to denounce Dylan in certain circles, but by golly, he is certainly another classic artist I've never ever enjoyed.
Coincidentally, I listened to 'Blood on the Tracks' earlier today and it bored me. Bored me to tears. |

Another classic artist I've always been apathetic towards: Pink Floyd. Which in hindsight does seem a tad peculiar considering I have a penchant for all things spacey and/or psychedelic.

i love dylan, but i'm not sure i'd pay more than $30 to see him these days from everything i've heard. perhaps his voice would sound 10-15 years younger if he didn't tour so damn much. it's almost like he doesn't give a fuck about the quality of his performance whatsoever.
dude's just a total cock more than ever tbh. my ex's sister worked for his road crew a few years ago and apparently they aren't allowed ten feet within bob and can't make any eye contact. |

I saw him about 8 or 9 years ago and thought it was awful at the time, but then stumbled across a bootleg of the same gig a year or so back having heard a lot more live Dylan tapes in the interim and it actually sounded pretty good. So there ya go. Horrible fucking airport hangar of a venue though.

that makes two of us and I saw him in the eighties definitely the worst big name performer I have ever seen. I do agree with Alan though he does bring a killer backing band. Too bad he can't keep up with them. The highlight of the night was a violin solo done by a woman performer during All Along the Watchtower. The again maybe Joe Cocker live was just as bad.

Ahah finding nobody is going to be even more confused now with half posters saying he should go and the other half saying it's gonna be awful

But, to my fellow Dylan fans, did you know about this? yeah, i've known about that the mono mixes for about two months or so. i didn't know about the LP box. seems like a ripoff at $250 when you can get a ten-pack of the sundazed reissues for $100 less (minus the fancy box and poster, if you really need that):
http://www.sundazed.com/shop/product...roducts_id=951 i have a bootleg of the witmark demos, so i'm not all too excited about that one. it'll be nice to have both on CD, though. i think the mono mixes up to "another side..." just make a hell of a lot more sense. the other albums i prefer in mono, but they have their redeemable qualities in stereo too. |

"Classic artist" as in 'artists considered classic by the general populace'.

At first I read this as "MGMT to play with Bob Dylan next month."
