i'm somewhere between monsters, inc., finding nemo, and the incredibles. they're all so great.
i haven't seen ratatouille, but i plan on seeing it this week.

I really liked the concept of Bug's Life when I first saw it although toy story is obviously a fucking CLASSY CLASSIC.

i agree. especially since pixar movies are entertaining for adults, too.

i have to say that, the only period of disney i like is the whole little mermaid-beauty and the beast-aladdin-lion king era, before or afterwards, sorry, i'm not into it. besides the sword in the stone.
toy story, i enjoyed it when i saw it on theaters, but it really wore off me. |

Finding Nemo was funny.
My favorite Disney movie is Fantasia.

though nemo and incredibles look amazing....toy story was the one that started it all...and is still the funniest...though i prefer some of the older ones...those were the ones i saw as a kid....peter pan, robin hood, sword in the stone....black cauldron is cool....jungle book has the best music and is possibly the best movie....oh wait, the three caballeros has amazing music too...it ties jungle book.

My favourite Disney films:
Aristocats (1970) 101 Dalmations (1961) Lady & the Tramp (1955) I love the look and feel of that period (early 50's through to 1970ish). There was no attempt at realism, no "irony" or in-jokes for the adults, and the animation was great. |

Along with Fantasia, those three were favorites of mine as a kid. I know what you mean about the look and feel of those movies in particular. I also watched newer ones like Little Mermaid and Aladdin, but the animation to me wasn't special. It looked just like every other animated movie at the time. There was too much emphasis on musical numbers and jokes and it just kind of cheapened the movies for me. I felt like the newer ones were a little too bombastic, whereas the three you mentioned were pretty low-key in tone and color, and didn't rely so heavily on being over-the-top.
