Both live performances, and both feature our own Sonic Youth alongside Mats Gustafsson. Do you prefer Sonic Youth performing Gustafsson's piece or the semistructured improvisation between the two?
If this poll has been done before then I sort of apologise. But not in any real sense.

SYR8 for sure.
hidros 3 is surely a nice live concept, with all the rooms and stuff, but it doesnt really work n a non-visula recording format, I think |

I am going to give SYR8 a couple more listens before I vote, but I suspect that I agree with you alshabbray.
SYR8 is definitely better packaged. The SYR series are all visually appealing, and this one doubly so.

oh yes they are. but what I was trying to say that the whole hidros concept is something that you should experience live, with different members playin different rooms etc. or at least it should released on dvd or something like that to make it more accesible as a whole concept

That would be a good idea. Or perhaps the seperate audio parts could be made available at the SY homepage.

I actually enjoyed HIDROS 3 considerably. But, since it's recent release, I've already spent more time listening to SYR8.

I agree HIDROS has its moments. I quite like Kim's vox throughout.
However Steve's drumming on SYR8 gets me every time. |
