"Britain's Premire Jazz Fuck Trio"
Anyone dig this band? I sure as hell do. I was introduced to them through, you guessed it, Blastitude. They were amazing. The genre they are pigeonheld in by hack rock critics is "Post Punk", which I don't have a problem with, because pretty much all post 77 underground rock is "Post Punk" (meaning, it couldn't have happened prior to punk). Anyways, this shit is nuts. Jazz, Funk, Punk, Soul, Skronk, everything. The obvious influence is the Pop Group, but these dudes took it a bit farther. AtSonicPark; You would LOVE this band. their myspace page (good sample tracks): http://www.myspace.com/bigflamemcr the blastitude interview: http://www.blastitude.com/26/

They were ok.
I never really got into them in a huge way. I bought a few of their 7"s. If you like them, you should listen to The Great Leap Forward, the band Alan Brown formed when Big Flame split up. |

Three of the Peel sessions are available from this blog: http://hassanisobar.multiply.com/music
I much preferred Brown's other band, The Great Leap Forward. There was supposed to be some re-recording and release of TGLF material.

You did indeed, sorry. I only have one Peel session and the brilliant "Bereavement of Speech" track by TGLF. Brown is also in a band called Sarandon, but I haven't heard anything by them. So a fat lot of use that is.

Big Flame are one of those bands I look back on with fondness, but I couldn't have been too enamoured with them otherwise I would have bought more of their records.
I preferred Bogshed. |

Bogshed's entire canon reeks of class, with Peel sessions 3 & 4 being the absolute high point in my opinion. One of my top ten bands. There should be a Bogshed thread on every forum on the internet.

I'm very disappointed that there are no Bogshed CDs available (correct me if I'm wrong).

You are very right. One of the former members of the band has prevented any release. I'm going to pm you, so keep a close watch on your inbox.
