I haven't heard any truly great 2011 albums by new artists yet.
Remember, like, 2002...? we were sprawling with new music popping up out of nowhere. Scenester's paradise. But so far, the only artists that have caught my attention in 2001 are artists I already love. Mogwai- Hardcore will never die but you will Tom Waits- Bad as Me Jackie-O Motherfucker- earth sound system ... what else is going on? I really want to know. I haven't been paying any attention to new releases or artists this year, and it's something I usually keep track of. |

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about PJ Harvey!!!
And of course Demolished Thoughts is great. I don't like it as much as his others, but it's a top 5'er, definitely. |

These guys weren't born this year, but they're pretty new, and I like them a lot. Awesome live and on tape. Allegedly just released a new tape but I havn't seen one yet. Definitely west coastal psych, but deeply into the free-est "spiritual" deepest jazz. Fun to hang out with too. Wish I still lived in the same county as these guys. lots of incestual band member overlap at their tape label: http://deeptapes.com/ |

I guess WU LYF is pretty good, and their album is from '11.

Dude, stop making all these pointless threads. It's starting to become a bit annoying.

and yeah, that post seemed kinda assholish & bitchmade to me, but perhaps Slavo just had a bad day. either way, Noisefield can step up but his threads are surely not that bad. |

Well maybe I'm taking this too seriously but I just counted all the new posts for today so far and it was over 100! not bad for a dead forum . I know plenty of other forums with much less. |

I just listened to Wu LYF for the first time thanks to or rather because of this thread. Jesus, they suck. Terribly over emphatic vox creeps the hell out of me. And also "KTHX reverb". Very annoying to listen to!
If you do like yr reverb, go listen to Beach House's last LP. Way less pretentious and infinitely better compositions all round. |

Yeah, I forgot Iceage. Their album is really good. It's really energetic post-punk. Flesh those ideas out a little, and those guys are gonna have one hell of a sound. |

Actually, I was listening to it on my way to work this morning, remembering that I'd recommended it here, and I was like "Meh.... I'm putting on something less 'wah'" I still do like it, but it grates on you. Beach House is not less pretentious, though. Just pretentious in a different way. |
