(I have a hard time not feeling like this is really lame, but at the same time I'm a little excited about it. OK.)
The list I have compiled looks like this: Albert Camus: The Fall The Plague Nikolai Gogol: Dead Souls The Collected Tales (Short Stories) Haruki Murakami: A Wild Sheep Chase The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle Jean Genet: Our Lady Of The Flowers The Miracle of the Rose Jorge Luis Borges: Fictions The Aleph Henry Miller: Tropic of Cancer Black Spring Fyodor Dostoevsky: The Idiot The Brothers Karamazov William Gibson: Virtual Light Pattern Recognition Vladimir Nabokov: Pnin Pale Fire William Gaddis: JR A Frolic of His Own John Updike: The Centaur The Complete Henry Bech Philip Roth: The Counterlife I Married a Communist Samuel Beckett: Watt Murphy Knut Hamsun: Hunger Pan James Ellroy: Black Dahlia American Tabloid Dave Eggers: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius You Shall Know Our Velocity Chuck Palahniuk: Fight Club Lullaby Georges Bataille: My Mother The Story of the Eye Naguib Mahfouz: Children of Gebelawi Palace Walk Graham Swift: Last Orders Waterland If you've no idea what I'm going on about, well: some members here have decided to start a book club. Shut up. If you'd like to join, PM me and suggest 3 authors. Do it quick. There are 14 members so far and we've come up with only 20 authors. I picked 5 of them (guess which 5!). Request more authors! This thread is for bitching at me about the books I've chosen. I chose two for each author. I have reasons. We really need more authors. After we've added some more authors and straightened out which books belong on the list, I'll pick 5 or so books at random and we'll have a PM vote. Bitch away. And PM me with more authors! |

I've read Dead Souls; while fasting... It's intersting, lots of boiled cabbage and travelling through Russia.... Only trouble is; it's not finished... Never will be.

Maybe you're right, but this is in the 'non-sonics' forum, so just about anything not pertaining to music goes here. Even geeks wanting to read books.

If the list is fine, I'll go ahead and randomly pick the books to choose from. Tomorrow probably. I'm concerned that so few of the "members" have posted in here. Guess there aren't any problems.

Word. What's actually happening then, did you want us to pick one from the list on the first page, or are you going to do it? Perhaps you should make a shorlist of ten and have a vote on it?
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON I AM CONFUSED. Also, is the actual discussion taking place on this board? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON I AM CONFUSED. Alright, so I just like saying that. So sue me. Word.
