UAU. mexico??? amazing!!!
i wonder if they have done it for financial reasons rather than enlightened politics-- mexican marriages (and divorces) by fax are a staple of illicit lovers worldwide, and a nice infusion of cash for their coffers. |

it's not really gay marriage, it's a law that allows a partnership to share common goods and possessions for fairness if the partnership breaks, not to mention social benefits that come with marriage; mostly, it means that non-marriage unions get the same rights and benefits as married couples.

Yeah I know, I don't think my people will be able to get married. Just civil unions, but I don't care for it that much.

people act here like all of a sudden mexico turned into a rainbow bright san francisco only with dildos instead of flagpoles holding the flag and to celebrate we're doing a massive orgy.
"we're so liberated and we are so plural!!! we're letting fags get married!!! hurray us!!" |

marriage is overrated anyhow and its a bad bet over 50% end in divorce so i dont know to many people who would really want to go into something that could very well be predicted by a coin toss

if you leave everything up to chance, then yeah I could see it being a toss up. marriage is not fucking easy by any means (I've been married for 10 years). few things worth doing are easy bets. SnththclY: MEXICO...seriously. any ceremony at all would be just as valid no matter where you had it performed. fuck some piece of paper from Boston, I say have fun. |

I know, I frankly don't care so much about marriage. However, there are people who do, especially gay marriage. So I just say let them get married. But I do like the idea of having not to worry about your partner after you die.
Edit- Did you know that here in California, if you are not married you can not get the results of the autopsy. |

ok....so california will recognize a marriage from "somewhere else" and give you benefits, but you just can't get married there? that's rocket surgery. |
