I'm currently drinking an inexpensive Jacob's Creek Merlot, and got to thinking about how many boardies here are into the wine. What's your favourite wine, and do you have a country preference when it comes to the plonk?

Um, currently drinking a bottle of Nastro, but as far as wine goes, I have a belief that you just can't buy a bad bottle of Rioja, it's just impossible!

We tend to prefer Torrontes or Sauvignon Blanc.

Our preferred countries are Chile and Argentina, although anyone living near a branch of Oddbins sould check out the Greek stuff that has been produced in recent years; Notios is always good, and if you don't mind stepping up towards the ten quid mark then there's the astonishingly lovely Amythystos:

I know people who will quickly diss French wine, but there's a lot of quality French stuff at all price ranges, so don't be too hasty.

Pinot Grigio is often my wine of choice. No particular brand. I live in California, so most of what my family purchases is wine made here in Cali. For red wine I like Pinot Noir.

I watched Sideways on sky movies once.. but I'm not a drinker. But if I drink, I'd be sophisticated and drink wine.

i live an hour from both the barossa valley, clare valley and mcclaren vale wine regions in south australia, where some of the best wines in the world are made. just curious how much you pay for jacobs creek over there in london because that is like $7-8au here very cheap and average wine.

clarendon hills 2002 merlot is my favourite when i can afford it, but there are many many many good wines in my local cellars who specialises in wine.

I live about 20 minutes from the hunter valley vineyards. I know a bunch of people who own vineyards etc. It's good when there's a gathering at one of the peoples places, bottles of wine everywhere, to take home also.

Alot of wine is used with the aid of milk and eggs, so I can't drink all wines. One of my favourites is Peter Lehmens Clancy Red. It's around $10 to $16 a bottle and beautiful. I've converted alot of people to Clancys, alot of older folk who don't mind spending the extra money on a bottle either.

I drink alot of cask wine because it's cheap. Yalumba Shiraz is a nice cask wine. Most cask wine tastes like piss, but this is an exception. It's around $13 a cask.

It's like anything, if you find the right cheap wine, you'll never spend stupid amounts.

French wines are the best.
A good Pinot noir from Bourgogne, and Sancerre blanc.
