There have been a lot of movie threads on this here sonic life forum, but what a bout the dumb movies, the silly movies, the movies that seek to entertain and not to make "art"?
Here are my favorite "DUMB" movies, which i ahve seen many times,a nd will see again many times The Three Amigos Major Payne Fletch

real genius zoolander bad santa wait, i'm not sure what you meant but "entertainment, not art"-- that would fit all good comedies-- but is comedy not an art? not sure i see the point but i'll continue all movies by john waters, film god raising arizona various kung-fu movies etc |

my point being movies that people who love "film" think are stupid and lowbrow and beneath their contempt. Bad Santa does not qaulify as hipsters and dofuses alike found it quality. John waters however...

I'm not sure what you meant by "dumb movies", because I consider dumb movies stuff like the Matrix.. stuff with no appeal at all except clever marketing and a ridiculous "cool factor" (oh man, sunglasses and trenchcoats!). I also considered shit like Forrest Gump dumb: a retarded man conforms his whole life and does everything he can for America and the only person who opposes that happens to be a prostitute who gets AIDS and dies. All I learned from that movie is to conform and everything will be okay -- stand against the opposition and die!
I'm guessing you mean movies with bad acting, though. This is by no means a comprehensive list as I own over 800 movies that have probably seen 5 times that many that could be classified as "dumb but good": Pot Zombies The Evolved Body Melt Street Trash Slime City Redneck Zombies I Was a Teenage Zombie Psycho Cop 1 and 2 Maniac Cop 2 and 3 (the first one was pretty serious) The Stuff Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness (again, the first one was pretty serious) Texa Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation The Manitou Evil Speak Evil Dead Trap (tries to be serious but isn't!!) Rock N Roll Nightmare Desparate Living Touch Me In the Morning Period Piece Dribble Maniac Nurses Find Ecstacy The First Turn-On Hudson Hawk Double Dragon Super Mario Brothers The Movie Street Fighter Mortal Kombat and Annihilation Alone in the Dark House of the Dead (the Uwe Bolle version not the anthology film that's actually pretty good!) Killing Spree Rock N Roll Nightmare Pink Flamingos Multiple Maniacs Serial Mom Trailer Town In Our Garden Who Flung Poo? Tater Tots Grandpa Wiggly Ants Laundry Room Jacuzzi Rooms Dad's Chicken Air Conditioning Fart: The Movie Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters 1 and 2 Viewer Discretion Advised How to Get aHead in Advertising (not really all that dumb but it gets that way near the end) White of the Eye (see the above! The last 30 minutes -- god!) Killer Condom Monster Squad Night of the Creeps Gore Gore Girls (one of my all time favorites!) Wizard of Gore Cabin Fever (don't love it at all but I love the pancakes! kid) Homo Erectus Unmasked Part 25 Night Train to Terror (mainly for the claymation parts!) Meet the Feebles Bad Taste Demented Death Farm Massacre Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell Plutonium Baby Dumpster Baby The Suckling Angels Die Hard G.I. Executioner Preacher Man I Was a Teenage TV Terrorist Pigs Slaughterhouse Garden of the Dead Croaked Hell Comes to Frogtown Wild at Heart (come on, I love it, but it's pretty dumb eh?) Deadfall Bloodsucking Freaks Hellhole Mother's Day Escape from Hell Bloodrage Play Dead Graduation Day Curse of the Cannibal Confederates Blood Song Nightbeast Stuck On You! (not the dumb Farrely Brothers one but the Lloyd Kaufman one) Pod People Manos: Hands of Fate Soultaker Mitchell Zombie Island Massacre Igor and the Lunatics When Nature Calls Nightmare Weekend Monsturd Jack Frost 1 and 2 Dollman vs Demonic Toys Girl School Screamers Blood Hook I Married a Vampire Frostbiter Sucker: The Vampire Evil Clutch Video Vixens Do Psychotown Sorority Babes in Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama Stuff Stephanie in the Incinerator Dialing for Dingbats Def By Temptation Fertilize the Blaspheming Bombshell Killer Nerd Bride of Killer Nerd Vegas in Space Tomcat Angels Wizards of the Lost Kingdom Teenage Cat Girls in Heat Dragon Pink X (the anime movie, this was dumb as fuck!) 967-Evil Basic Training Basket Case 1 2 and 3 Brain Damage Frankenhooker Lifeforce Monster High Meatballs 1 2 3 and 4 Bikini Carwash Company 1 and 2 Troll 1 and 2 (never saw 3) Silent Night Deadly Night 2 Student Bodies Metamorphosis Cutting Class Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and various sequels Chopper Chicks in Zombietown Luther the Geek Motel Hell That's all I feel like listing right now... I only listed ones I've seen and love except where noted , by the way. Feel free to include 80% of Troma films, almost every John Waters film, most zombie movies made on a super low budget, nearly every film on those "50 movies for $5!" packs, any film made by the guy who made Mulva: Zombie Ass Kicker, any film made by the guy who made Terror Toons, most films made by Herschell Gordon Lewis, and every film every shown on USA Up All Night to the above list. EDIT: Oh, you clarified what you meant, "films that highbrow movie critics would think is dumb". Yeah, the above list fits then. |

"Better Off Dead", just saw this on television eariler this week. Still one of the funniest damn movies ever.
"Dazed and Confused", so much better then the more popular pot movies like "Dude Where's my Car" and "Harold and Kumar". "Nightmare on Elm Street", the sequels. Except maybe "Freddy's Dead" that one was just bad. |

Well, that's pretty much exactly what I said, but Rob clarified that he meant films that high-brow critics look down on.
