In the intro to Key is a Fact that a Cat Brings (Melt-Banana - Cell Scape), what effect is being used by Agata?
Or how can I achieve some sound similar to this? |

Remove your soul and scrape it on your guitar..sounds like some synth effect?

i don't think it's a synth. i've seen them play that song a few times, and there was never a synth present. it could be him playing a sound from his ipod (he has one on his pedalboard) through his whammy through delay through who knows how many types of distortion.
edit: here are some shots of his pedalboards from their 2005 tour. ipod on the right.

Shit, that's a nice pedalboard. I didn't really know anything about their effects so i was just taking a guess.

I never considered it really being that complicated (run through many effects). Not very aware on my part. Thanks anyway.

ah those japanese and their homemade technological gadgetry. we in ireland just plug our guitars into potatoes and use a sheeps arse as an amp. the sound is good as long as you keep the sheeps mouth open.........

I'm so bad with their song titles...is it a digital delay/stuttering sound?

It sounds like his taking a tone and speeding it up or slowing it down to make various high and low notes. (that really doesn't make much sense, it's really something you have to hear) |

this is the third gig they played since i came to tokyo.
the first one had 7 little known bands and melt banana and started at 7pm, so i thought it was safe to get there at 8 and miss the first few bands, but they played 2nd and i missed em!!! gutted. the second one i was gonna go, then my gas got cut off the same day and i had to spend my money getting it reconnected and missed em again!!! what could go wrong tonight? |

they were wicked!
nothing went wrong in the way of melt banana, but plenty of other things going wrong at the moment. it always seems mxbx only play for 3 minutes, everythings so fast it just flys by. |
