After playing this a lot I'm starting to think it could actually be the best Sonic album. Anyone else agree?

I remember thinking that when I first picked it up, too, but the feeling faded. I still like it a lot. It has strong material, and I love that cover photo! But I don't think it's as enduring, for me at least, as DN, EVOL, Sister, Goo, and Rather Ripped. Still very good, though.

Not the best album in my opinion, but the songs sound freaking amazing live. This was the first Sonic Youth album wherein I heard the songs live first, in their earliest state before hearing the record. It was crazy hearing them live at first, cause I really had no idea that Sonic Youth could go in that direction... kind of like a thousand leaves only in a more upbeat, happier, more major chord kinda way. Oh, and when I first heard them instantly turn on the feedback on Karenology it was like getting hit by a brick in the chest, it was really unexpected and fucking loud. I had no idea it was coming. Then the album came out and I still think its great, but there just aren't enough songs on it. It needs at least one more to make it really seem complete to me, preferably two, but one more would do. |

I love Murray Street. It's a nice mix of noise and melody...

Murray Street is the best Sonic Youth record.
But understandably not many agree due to the wide range of material Sonic Youth has. But come on, Karenology does everything EVOL does plus more. |
