Kim Gordon, Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, More Boycott SiriusXM Over Music Modernization Act

The satellite radio company was the only entity that opposed the bill, which would greatly protect songwriters and artists in the digital and streaming age

A group of about 150 artists and executives have signed a new open letter addressed to SiriusXM’s corporate parent, Liberty Media, declaring their intentions to boycott the satellite radio company in support of the Music Modernization Act (MMA). The MMA is a legislative push towards modernizing copyright protection for songwriters and artists alike in the digital and streaming age. SiriusXM have opposed portions of the bill, making them the only remaining opposition to its passing. Kim Gordon, Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, Karen O, Mick Fleetwood, Katy Perry, Sia, The Pixies’ Joey Santiago, Alessia Cara, Charlie Puth, and many others are boycotting SiriusXM. Read the full letter, penned by songwriter Ross Golan, via Variety.
SiriusXM have since responded to the letter with suggested amendments. Earlier this year, the MMA bill was passed unanimously in the Senate Judiciary Committee and House of Representatives.
