It is the 5th of may, which means it's Cinco De Mayo.

I have no clue as to what the significance of this day is, except that it has something to do with a Mexico winning a battle in the 1800s.

It commemorates the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín over the French occupational forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

ha ha yes. funny thing is, it's not a big day in mexico, but mexican-americans have turned it ito a huge "mexican pride" day, and then the bars don't mind the business it brings, which in my mind is a mockery of mexican culture, but then american commerce always manages to turn everything into a saleable joke, like disney history. so, let's drink to that.

jimador is probably the best, but what do i know? i don't like tequila.

there's a battle reenactment and there's good business for bars, but it's not that big; not as big as september 15 (independence day) anyway.

i'll report from the bar, might down a few brewskis today.
