I was listening to "In God We Trust Inc." earlier, & I got so hyped up listening to that 12" 45. They are truly one of the pioneers of punk music. & to top it all off, they have some of the greatest musicians a punk band has ever seen.
East Bay Ray: guitar Klaus Flouride: bass Ted: drums Jello Biafra: vocals So more or less, this is a Dead Kennedys appreciation thread. So appreciate them damn it!

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is the record that opened up the world of punk to me. a friend gave me a burnt copy my freshman year and i played the shit out of it for like 4 months. and if i hadn't gotten into punk, i wouldn't have gotten into SY.

^: That has to be one of my favorite lyrical tracks from DK. I seem to recall seeing a live cd of DK where they did a cover of "Back In The U.S.S.R", that will have to be the most interesting Beatles cover ever created.

"Let's lynch the landlord. Let's lynch the landlord. Let's lynch the landlord man"
-Dead Kenndys I haven't heard any of the new DK, but I'm getting the feeling I wouldn't want to. Anyway, DK covers are pretty fucking good. here are a couple of DK covers that I really like; "Rawhide" "Take This Job & Shove-It" & I'm really interested in hearing the "Back In The U.S.S.R" cover.

Dead Kennedys are definately one of my all-time favorite bands. The first time I heard them I was just blowen away. I remember when I was like in 8th grade and saw thier concert video at the On Broadway and it was just so incredible. One the most entertaining bands I've ever seen play live, and I wasn't even at the concert.

I'd imagine a Dead Kennedys show to be one of the most intense, insane shows that you'd ever see in a life time.
Dead Kennedys 4 Life!

My high school English teacher saw Dead Kennedys play a secret show in Brisbane back in the day. The drummer had been arrested and held the night before, Queensland had a really conservative Premier back then.
Anyway at the secret show Jello threw a pineapple into the audience as it was a symbol of Queensland and it hit my teacher in the head. I thought that was the coolest thing ever when she told me that 4 years ago.

They were probably the band that realy got me into punk. I of course started light with green day and nirvana... but then I found out about dead kennedys, black flag, the ramones, the clash, buzzcocks. Most of middle school I conisdered myself wuite the punk kid. No junk food, just earthly goods I ate weird berries in the woods Now I'm seeing colors, I'm getting higher I think I'll start a forest fire
