WHY WASN'T I FORCED TO WATCH CNN AS A KID?
Matt Damon attended Harvard University. Matt Damon starred in The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum. Conan O'Brien graduated from Harvard University. Conan O'Brien interviews celebrities and satirizes shallow celebrities. Charlie Rose interviews celebrities in a room with one light and a dark background. Why do I now feel shallow about wanting to be a movie and music buff? -- what was the point of my childhood anyway? Even the New York Times has an Arts section. Even Maya Arulpragasam wants to shake asses. Even Maya Arulpragasam likes the song "Vans" by the The Pack. Even Roger Ebert talked to Bill Clinton about movies. |

We all have different childhoods. We cannot choose the way we grew up, but we can choose the way we want to lead our life. Childhood is a precursor to your beliefs, and really your self as an adult. Only "you" can change the way you want to be perceived, think, etc.

because your childhood and the environment you grow up in determines the rest of your life, basically, because of your mental development and whatnot. if you grow up in an unstable environment, you'll probably be an unstable adult.

Childhood may seem pointless when so much of our society refuses to accept maturity. However, it is no fault of the children, and in fact they have much to teach us - the main lesson being how to learn.
I was at a birthday party for a three year old girl today with several very young kids and their parents and grandparents in attendence. There was much happiness and some interesting lessons in sharing. Such a simple yet crucial concept that rarely makes it onto CNN. |

That is true, but the way we let people affect us come straight from childhood.

This is very true. The things that I used to, in a way, shy away from and avoid, like family things, I now very much appreciate and find these times to be the happiest and most insightful.

In your case, if your childhood produced a person who posts crap like this, then, yes, it was pointless. |

Childhood has a point- to give us a feeling of deep nostalgia and lost innocence later in life.

I wish I was still a child. Sure I'm still young but I want to be a kid who's full of imagination again.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
