I was listening to a radio show this morning, and they were claiming that a majority of men were intimidated by women that asserted their independence; most men subconsciously subscribed to the "neanderthal" ideology that they should be the providers, and intellectually/socioeconomically dominant. Your thoughts?

Independence is one of the most attractive qualities in a woman.
Then again, I am a very poor "provider." |

I think it's more complicated than the radio show made it sound, though. There are independent women, and then there are the fiercely 'feminist' women that are rather aggressive about their self-sufficiency, and use it as a form of currency. Those women annoy me, frankly. I think independence/individuality speaks for itself, through actions and attitude, and doesn't need to be asserted to gain something or create a certain persona.
In short, I dig independence, but aggressive feminists are irritating cunts. |

Independence is best asserted independently.

that's the only kind of women i like. i'm not into women that need to be with someone at all times and are clingy.
my last girlfriend was very independent and that's what attracted me to her the most. |

the ones i hate are the ones with some sort of shit to prove-- usually to cover their insecurities. women who are really independent don't go around trying to be all macho.
anyway i gotta go have lunch. |

I like women that have a sense of their self, yes. I guess this is why I'm into artistic or intellectual women for the most part. Unfortunately these kinds of women usually have prospects lined up outside their door. Some even prefer dumber, more malleable guys over intelligent fellows like myself.
Anyways I never really meet many feminazis, just friends that either get confused when I'm sarcastically mock traditional patriarchal sloganeering or they over scrutinize a comment to make it a gender issue when it really isn't. Like one time I told my feminist friend that I noticed that scientists whom I've met fall into two categories; the passionate reveler or the apathetic measurer. Unfortunately I used female examples from my life to illustrate both and she thought I was confining women to either feminist revolutionaries or apathetic victims. |

You illustrated my point well, pbradley. I'm going to steal "feminazis" from you.

independent women are great. I think sometimes it is more difficult to convince them to dress up as treasure trolls for ogre invasion roleplay, but other than that they're great.
DRIVEN women are the best though. those that are just pure feminine hunters going through life. probably toughest sort of relationship to maintain if you're also very driven, but wow i bet the highs are uncontestable.
