In fact, the E-Z Rollers have had some pretty good songs. The keyboards on 'Short Change' are orgasmic. Drums and Bass can be very cool sounding, but creatively it doesn't do much for me.

klute's pretty good, early goldie, don't own any albums just some mp3s. 95% of it is shit but the other 5% is excellent. It does get a bit samey after a while though

Dillinja is good yet cheezy at the same time. Interesting stuff. And, from my hometown, DJ Maus' early stuff is pretty good.
Oh, and Roni Size + Reprezent's New Forms is a classic record |

WHat? How? Who let you have that opinion? Surely not? Classic? Where were you when we were begging for gurners in a field in the mid-90's?

check out stuff from about 1994 till 1996 or 97, for a time it seemed like every drum n bass tune that came out was amazing, after that everything sounded the same. to be honest i find it really weird that people still listen to it, and are getting into it now. to me it seems so much like a product of it's place and time that there's almost no reason to listen to it now aside from nostalgia, and unless you were growing up in or around london or bristol in the 90s then you wouldn't be nostalgic for it.
anyway names: ray keith dj ss photek doc scott dj zinc dj krust andy c ed rush & optical dillinja alex reece dj kane dj hype lemon d swanee brockie fabio grooverider mickey finn aphrodite there were so many good DJs back then, i think all the same guys are still around now, but they're all rubbish. i guess my favourite DnB tunes that i can still remember, would be origin unknown - valley of the shadows ganja kru - super sharp shooter renegade - terrorist dj krust - warhead photek - rings around saturn the only drum n bass that has really stood the test of time for me is photek, pretty much everything he did was great. |

A great big 'YArr' to the above post. It's weird to look at that list, I know exactly what you mean (you missed out N. Blackmarket)... I often forget that Fabio and Grooverider weren't always on that 'smooth jazzy' tip...
Size was a dirty MC, and his cru were messy DJ's, but the records never held up to the live show (ie - gurners = lack of taste?)

a couple of my mates and i were into this MC called Palmer Da Gal Dem Charmer, or something. He was awful, but 'illarious, just like some savage who managed to get his hands on the mic and no one could get rid of him. i can't remember too much in the way of MCs though, skibadee, navigator, stevie hyper d...

i remember i took a trip to america in 2001 and this guy i met (american) was all excited about this tune he's just heard and told me i had to check it out, he said it sounded really fresh, anyway he turned on the tune and it was Original Nuttah by Shy FX & UK Apache, it was the last thing I expected to hear.

no, he's not, altough his music is about as close as it's possible to be to drum n bass without being drum n bass |

the other thing i don't understand is why people would bother listening to drum n bass when they could listen to grime and/or dubstep instead, as it is way better and what's happening in london now and not some weird 90s timewarp music.
