Hello back SYG! What's up?
I've been on a three-days vacation in Paris for the weekend, it was cool. I visited various places on Saturday, including Gibert Joseph (a record store...) where I bought Autechre's Confield. It turned out Cercueil (a band from Lille) played at Le Nouveau Casino on Saturday night, so I went - it's a bit crazy that I first see a band from my town in Paris. They cancelled two shows in Lille where I should have been this year; I had already seen them with another project, though. Anyway, they rocked, I was really impressed. Also playing were: - Portradium: an electronica artist. His concept was original (on stage, there was not only a laptop, but cymbals), but it was a bit boring at times ; sometimes it was like he wasn't doing anything but playing cymbals while the laptop provided an instrumentation (I mean, he wasn't doing anything on the laptop at those times yet the programmation was building by itself, etc). Still there were some really good moments, and powerfull basses. - pOOr bOy: an indie rock band with no drums and electronic rhythmics provided by the laptop. It was really good, though their laptop crashed during the second track, so they had to restart it (the computer) while they played an acoustic song (which wasn't planned...). - The Nightcrawler: I thought it would be dull but it was good. One dude playing skeleton blues rock with electronic drums. He was funny, and his tracks were good. I enjoyed myself. On Sunday I visited the Musée d'Orsay, where I saw many great paintings (obviously...). Here are a few of my favorite ones: Claude Monet - Lilas; Temps Gris Alfred Sisley - Le Repos Au Bord D'Un Ruisseau Camille Pissaro - Le brouillard; Voisins James Whistler - Varations En Violet et Vert I just came back home, and there was Campfire Songs by Animal Collective, which I won on a contest ran by a really kind Collected Animals user. I feel great! So what about you all? |

Also, that trip was for sure fantastic! It killed all the stress I had about this next school year (which begins next Monday), and the possible expulsion of my family from our flat. Also, I would never be in an e-couple with a guy that's got such a terrible music tastes passé (and present!). I won't say anything more |
