Will check it out, but I bet the song titles are better than the actual songs.

they should have stopped after Rock Action.

Why don't you start a 10,000,000 dollar fund to make them stop? |

I think the hawk is howling is one of their best ever and that live made me think it even more seriously listening to the live rendition of my fav tracks off it.
That said, to deem as shitty something that you haven't even heard yet is pretty stupid overall, moreso if you're an "old times fan".

hardcores long dead, mogwai's long crap and i'm unfortunately still alive to bear witness to these facts.

My thoughts precisely. And this is from someone with a Mogwai-based username. They were untouchable a decade ago, but the last one I gave more than a handful of spins was Happy Songs. Still worth it live though. |

I don't know why every time I try listening to Mogwai now I just have to switch it off. I'm not implying that their first two records and the EPs around that time aren't good, it's just probably something to do with myself.

Buh, I know lots of people who can't listen to them (not, or not only, because they think they're "bad", they just can't...somewhat similar to what GD said).
And I can live perfectly fine knowing that lots of people hate/despise/simply don't like/don't care about the music I like, it's not a "problem" for me. And I know slavo isn't stupid at all, it's that "this will be shit" aprioristic attitude that I can't understand. Obviously, anyone has the right to say "this is shit" after listening. haha. Or to have an aprioristic "I don't give a shit about this" stance.

aaaaand this is another reason why I'm quite excited, hope I can make it to the italian dates, it's been a while since I last saw them (happy songs tour perhaps). Again, the live they released is soooo filled with great tunes (with loads of subtle stuff going on in distortions and shit) I hope they'll live up to it during this tour.

Can't wait to hear it!
I pity all who can't enjoy Mr. Beast and Hawk Is Howling. Well.. most of their fan base is bitchy UK fans.. can't be helped. |

Still one of Britain's best live bands. Which makes the records which are merely ok-ish all the more disappointing. I think that's probably where the bitchiness comes from.

I agree for people to find their latest releases merely ok-ish, but to say they've been pure shit, is unfair. There are many hidden gems just waiting to be unearthed in their latest albums. Example; Folk Death 95, We're No Here, and Scotland's Shame.

Mogwai gave me one of the best concert moments of my life. I will forever be a Mogwai fan.

The first record is excellent, and live I've enjoyed them big time. The second I quite liked, but somehow by then it was over for me. It's not that I don't think they're any bad, because I don't even really know what they did after then, and I can only recall hearing couple of things off Rock Action. It's what they do, and that's cool. They're just not the sort of band I need to hear as things stand now. Another one is Arab Strap. Good band etc, they often seemed to deal aspects of everyday relationships and sadness that I now don't find they should merit particular attention, or certainly not that way. That's the way it goes here.
