i murdered some one today, not the first time that's happened, but this one wasn't premeditated, i reckon their's a fair chance i'll get caught, maybe 50/50, still i've got a fairly good lawyer who's got me off serious charges before.
Only joking! Did I have you going? Answer this POLL If you knew you could get away with murder, would you do it, if you had a good reason? the polll is anonymous too, you sick fucks. |

Depends on the situation.
I honestly believe everyone is capable. It would have to be super desperate, or a "kill-or-be-killed" scenario for me. Or something deeply personal, like revenge for some unspeakable act being perpetrated on me or someone I love. I would definitely condone serious but non-lethal violence in far more cases if I knew I would not be prosecuted. |

I can't imagine any circumstance where I would murder. Like Savage Clone, a self-defence situation might be one reason, but then I suppose that wouldn't be murder strictly speaking. So a resounding no from me.

How about if you knew for certain someone was planning to kill you or someone in your family, was committed to doing so and it was only a matter of time?
Also, there are instances where courts fail and rapists/murderers/pederasts get away with their crimes. I think a lot of people would be motivated for their own brand of justice in those cases. |

i think torture in the case of rapists/paedos/etc or if someone was going to kill my family or whatever i'd go for limb removal or something. or gouge out their eyes and destroy their ears and let them live like that for the rest of their life. touch wood that such a situation never arises though.

Isn't this basically what the entire Republic is about? I just took Intro to Philosphy last semester and never want to answer this question again.
But I will. No, but I think under the circumstance, given that you had a "good" reason to, especially if you include the elimination of the fear of getting caught as well (because it would still be there even if you knew), then it would be much more tempting than we might think. I'm still gonna say I wouldn't, though, cause I can't imagine working up the nerve to do it. |

Seriously not under any circumstances... although leg warmers make me want to kill on a daily basis...

the only time i would definet;y kill would be if the earth was attacked by aliens and they needed volunteers for a war in space, but only if i got to be a space fighter pilot. otherwise i'd join the resitance on earth, i wouldn't like to be a soldier fighting on another planet.

If self defense doesn't count, interplanetary war of survival sure as hell doesn't count either.

Any situations I can think of in which I would actually kill someone, it wouldn't matter if I could be caught. Particularly if someone I loved were in danger and there were no other choice. But I would do that even if I had to go to jail for it. Same goes for interplanetary warfare. But I think the murderous aliens are misunderstood. They mean no harm.
