they played one of her new songs on monday night before viv albertine came on, it was a bit crap, it's a shame because i loved her first two singles. my friend thinks she turned crap because she split up form dead luke. she's touring the UK in september and my band are trying to get an opening slot.

She's playing support for a popular Swedish band at the brix academy. By the time new amsterdam came out I sensed a decline in her creativity. Also, she's ordinary as fuck. Did you hear any new dead luke? He's trying to be pink reason, after hew did the sub-recorded german 80s thing. Anyway, fuck them, they seem like useless hipsters.

The only reason to listen to Zola Jesus might be "Nativity"

I've only heard one song from her new EP, but I didn't like it. It sounded much cleaner than her earlier stuff. Hope that's not a permanent thing.

I like it but she's starting to lose a lot of her original audience I think. She may want it that way.

I might be the only one with this opinion on here, but still I think "Stridulum" is her finest work to date, maybe with the exception of the first single.

No I actually agree. And the whole thing's great to me, not even sure which one the single was. I just bought this on vinyl today after waiting forever for the store to get more copies in.

I've no problem with people slickening things if the songs are there. But I'm not hearing that. I never really liked her to begin with. And that Pitchfork interview where she starts dropping situationism really turned me off.

Speaking of Pink Reason, when the hell is the follow up to "Cleaning the Mirror" going to come out?

Gianfranco Zola Jesus is officially famous now. She was on the radio the other day, the Evening Standard had an article about witch house on it last Friday with pics and mentions of her, I've heard people discussing her on the street a few times.
The ES calls her witch house. |

yes, that's what I was thinking too. She's got nothing to do with 'witch house'

If you go to the HMV on Oxford Street, they have a rack with "the best of 2010" and the picture they used for the "best of 2010" logo was Zola Jesus.
They had Afrirampo in the best of 2010 rack too, mind. I was surprised. |
