seriously this album is amazing
i was into fat cat records stuff back in the old freak folk days but they never quite seemed to reach their potential and then i forgot about them, but now. holy fuck this is amazing pure joy to listen to. |

This is funny. I can believe they have had lots of fun in both making the music & video.
But I prefer much more this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a_810LiKf4 |

well, the Risto is a bit too much straight folk to me, I do like Lau Nau for Finn folk, but prefer the noisy electric folk of Avarus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM3hLdB-HZ4

The song of Risto I put earlier, is the only "folk" song in that album. This is the most electronic song in album:

I do not find repeated listening enjoyment of "collage" music. Just me.
I admire the effort, but it doesn't move me.

Avarus are garbage. Good editing is the only reason they have made good records. Seeing them live reveals the naked emperors they are.
K.Y. are one of the few bands in this circle worth spending precious hours of one's life watching or hearing. |

Well, there are artists who should not play live at all. Also there are artists who never make it on records, but are really great live. To me it´s quite the same, I just love great music whatever it´s made.

I have a couple dozen Avarus live sets and most of their studio cd's and lp's. I really disagree with you, SC

I remember 'III' by Avarus being really good .. Thanks for the Kemialliset Ystävät hint! Another finnish band in this vein - Jarse - were fucking fantastic when I saw them 2 years ago. I regret not buying a release by them.

To be fair I have heard some very good records of theirs.
And I only saw them once. Perhaps an off day for them, but it was a pretty weak set and I was expecting much better things having heard recordings that made me think they would be great to see. |
