That's a tough one, but Everett True's book is due out next month and will probably be widely available. Whether it will be worth buying is another question altogether...

That's the only Sonic Youth book that I know of. It's a really good read though. It covers the early history of the band and takes you pretty deep inside their creative process (it was written with the cooperation of the band members). The only thing that kinda sucks is it only goes up to the recording sessions for "Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star". It would be cool to see an updated edition.

There is a book written by Guido Chiesa that came with a 3'' live cd .It'd be good if you find it because it's well written and the writer is a friend of the band.I think it's on there that i've read for the first time that Kim used to work in a photocopy shop before she joined the band.

There's another cool one called "I Dreamed of Noise", also with a CD.

Thank You, guys. I bougth Guido Chiesa's book some years ago, becuz he's italian like me! and of course Confusion is Next which was translated and published in Italy. Now I'm in London looking for all the books which I can't find in my country, but no trace of them in Virgin, HMV etc. Any information could be very precious!

This is a VERY long shot, but the Book and Comic Exchange in Notting Hill may be worth a look, but bear in mind that it's a secondhand book store, so they can only stock what people have brought in to sell.

Try abebooks.co.uk or abebooks.com for secondhand books. It's an online marketplace for booksellers and they usually have what you want and often at a good price.

About the biggest selections of books in London are probably Foyles in Charing Cross Rd and the huge Waterstones on Picadilly. If they don't have what you're after I'm sure they can order it (if it's in print).

There used to be an amazing music book shop called Helter Skelter in Denmark St but it sadly closed a couple of years back. Real shame.

There was a book about the band in Rough Trade Records in Covent Garden (Neal's Yard) last week when I looked in... They also had the Mixtape book by Thurston... Hope that helps...

Sorry, been a long time and I have to say thank you very much for helpin. The last day of my holiday I found Our band could be your life in Piccadilly's Waterstones. I love Azerrad's Come as you are, it's full of passion. Later, I will give my opinion about this one and the debate risen up in august
