I'm thinking about moving to the UK before the United States completely sinks. Pros? Cons?

The United States appeals to me alot more than the UK. But, of course, I've been to neither.

I'm not fond of the accent really. No offense to the English boardies. I'd like to go there one day though. I'd like to visit many places.

I get to hear it everyday too. Coronation St is a favourite* in this household.
*Not mine.

anywhere where you have easy access to food and can survive without owning a car is probably where you need to be.
I've thought about leaving the country after grad school, seems like the sane thing to do. |

I haven't spent enough time in the US to comment really. But whatever you do, don't expect to come to the UK and find every day filled with awe and wonder. It's not a myth that it rains a lot here, it's truth.
What are you hoping to get away from? |

Living in England, at least for a while, has always been a nice idea but far too expensive for any realistic plans. San Francisco is a fine enough city and it doesn't rain all the time though it is pretty damn expensive itself.

agreed, i think if you grow up in the UK, you get used to the total disappointment with the weather pretty early on. But if you moved here it would be pretty crappy. Don't do it i say, move to Canada, the UK is not anything its cracked up to be, it might look alright in Tv shows or movies, but it really is pretty mediocre. |

No place is that great. There is hardly any place that is better than another. Sure, one might have a better scene or something, but if you need that to be happy, than you will never really be happy. When you move somewhere, at first it's exciting and you love it, but then it just becomes the new location where you go through the same routine as you always have, and you life goes back to being the same as it was before. If you aren't happy now, you won't be happy anywhere, because happiness comes from the inside.
Unless you live in Denmark. I hear it's great there.
