Recently saw Martine Barrat's Harlem shots and found them beautiful, black & white, lively framed, with a delightful use of sun light.
Couldn't find much googling her name though. Berenice Abbott did some nice things many many many years ago. And this one that Sergio Leone must have had in mind : Plus a big man : I was amazed at Cindy Sherman's work too (it can be soooo funny)... |

I'm also fond of Jill Greenberg's monkey portraits :
Some sexy stuff, for your eyes only... And the ideal answer to whoever pisses you off : |

this has the potential to become one of the best threads - some things posted, especially by nicfit, pheonix and sarramkrop, are breathtaking... i will think and post a selection of my favourites later.

this photo by bill owens
it's called: We're really happy. Our kids are healthy, we eat good food and we have a nice home. it was taken two years before i was born, and everything about it makes me think of an imaginary couple my parents might have known and had discussions with about which organic baby food is better and the various methods for growing squash over a couple of glasses of wine... (also... in one of the books i have with the above photo, it is next to this photo by Paul Outerridge...) ...this series of photos taken in queens in 1940 by Rudolph Burckhardt

...for comparison, here is a picture of my family around this time ( a couple of years before i was born)
from left to right: my grandfather, my grandmother, my tia and my cousins, and my mother on the far right.
