i only have his 1st duo concert with derek bailey and his album with wolf eyes. both are excellent but i prefer the former, because derek bailey is the best

that wolf eyes record is great, the only other recording i've heard from are the mp3s on this page, which are very, very good.

All I own and have ever heard from him is a record that is titled by some sort of geometric sketch or symbol or something. Pretty awesome stuff, very avant garde with some real moments of beauty. I definitely don't get a weird for the sake of weird vibe.

best to break braxton down by decade, as a multi instrumentalist and taste makes, his style changed a lot through his career, while always remaining avant garde to the bone:

60's:
three composition for new jazz
for alto

70s:

for two pianos

i mean, i obviously havnt heard all his stuff, his catalog is immense, even in for a free jazz artist. hes genius, but honestly im not a huge fan. you might like it though, especially if youre into really experimental music. some of his shit isnt really jazz, in fact if even be hard pressed to call him a jazz musician. anyways, just a brilliant avant garde composer, and check out whatever you can find.

apparently he was the first jazz musician to record a true solo record, i.e. himself playing alone with no other musicians

i saw anthony braxton perform as the diamond curtain wall trio (with a guitarist and a cornet player) yesterday. man, it was amazing, skipping the line between free playing and jazz language with a computer making feedback tones in the back. fucking marvelous.

made me wonder why i don't listen to free jazz more often.
