8 or 9, mostly in the summer though. I buy them or get given them throughout the year and they sit on my bed side table, then in the summer when i am out of college i read them all. I have 14 waiting to be read right now.

I read for pleasure and so would never think I'm not reading enough. At the moment I have a young family and so the only opportunity I get to read is on the train going to work. Depending on the size of the book, it takes me 1 to 2 weeks to finish. I suppose that's between 30 and 40 a year. |

20 isn't that small of an amount, depending on how long they are. That's about on every 2 weeks which isn't that bad if you have other obligations.
I have no idea but it varies a lot. A couple of years ago I probably read about 50+ in year quite easily. I go through phases... |

About two years ago I read about 3 or 4 a week - that was literally (arf) doing nothing other than reading and going out to by wine and food. These days it's about one a fortnight, but I dip in and out of academic texts/ poetry anthologies/ porn magazines.

i used to read maybe 2 books a day when i was happy and undocumented... ha ha (that was a g.g.m quote btw); no, well i used to read a lot before graduate school. graduate school perverted me & made me dread reading. i mean i had to. but it was a chore & it took the pleasure out of it. so after that i quit reading for a while & started watching movies-- 1, 2, 3 a day maybe. these days 1 on weekdays, more on weekends. now i've been slowly picking up books again but i don't read too many. most of the stuff i read is work related and not necessarily fun (not "boring" either, but just practical stuff). so, books, these days, that are NOt work-related-- about one a month maybe? it's all i got time for unless i change my habits or win the lottery & suddenly have all the time in the world. but if i had time i would write one. some times i feel it difficult to read something, it's like i'm a bit jaded and i've seen it all or something. (i haven't-- but it takes quite a bit these days for a book to get me interested). anyway, blah blah blah, etc. |

A lot. I really don't know how many.
I generally have more than one book on the go (almost exclusively non-fiction), that days' Telegraph, a couple of magazines, some journals and newsletters and whatever else I can get my hands on. If I'm not reading, I'm usually to be found in an antiquarian bookshop looking for something to read.

i have a hard time sitting down and reading work of fiction for what ever reason, like i started up a book less then 200 pages, and i haven't finished it besides the fact i started it like two weeks ago
non-fiction however i am better at, stuff like history and biographies i have come to the conclusion based on my past learning disabilities, i need a frame of reference to get imagery in my head, although in a state of revelry i have some of the most vivid saturations of things past, precognitive thought (some of which has been very acurate, like when my house caught on fire, saw it in a dream 15 years prior) and such..... |

I struggle to find books that interest me the these days. Fiction doesn't grab me anymore like it did when I was younger- for a few years all I read was those 'Life In Hell' books by Matt Groening.
Recently I either read books by or about musicians/famous people. I just finished reading a Michael Stipe biography, and I'm reading Richard Pryor's autobiography right now. So far my favorite book I've read in a long time is 'Drugs Are Nice', Lisa Crystal Carver's memoirs. I own a few of Lee's books too. |

I generally read books in fits and starts, apart from when I'm on holiday, when it's just a week long literary binge. Probably about fifteen a year.

20 is quite a lot.
Most people hardly read at all. 20 in a year is more than most people read in a lifetime. It depends on who you are comparing yourself to. Anyway, I would say it doesn't matter how many books you read as long as the ones you DO read are good ones and you read them thoroughly and enjoy them/get something out of them. My mother reads hundreds of books a year, but most of them are trash. |

I go through phases of where that's all I want to read. sometimes it's more enjoyable than having to think. I think I read less than 10 books last year...and that's a crime. usually I read a lot more than that. then again, 5 of those books were gigantic....so maybe it evens out. I really need to start reading more.....that might help with my boredom issues. |
