i voted for one last wish because they're the underdog in this poll.
guy wasn't in deadline but all of them were good friends so it was almost like he was in the band. |

I find Happy Go Licky to be the most interesting, though I've never really listened to Deadline or Insurrection.
I can't think of any other band that sounds like Happy Go Licky. |

I didn't find Happy Go Licky that fantastic... and I mean... Fufuckinggazi... come on.
The only real contender against Fugazi, I'd say, is Rites of Spring, and even that is kind of a harsh battle.

I love Fugazi, but the mysteriousness of Happy Go Licky and the moodiness and texture of their music makes them more interesting to me.

Some guy posted a videotaped HGL show on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDrWU0YCg_8 The sounds that they illicit out of their instruments baffles me. |

they never had an actual album. will play was just a bunch of live shows and two practice tracks. i'm surprised hgl don't get more talk around here. they were a noise band. maybe it's cause they came from a hardcore background. |

people here don't like noise. anyhoo, rites of spring for me because, frankly, i haven't heard any of the brenguy bands besides rites, fugazi and deadline (which is a stretch, really). |

rites of spring. took hardcore and made something more meaningful of it. then fugazi just for sheer consistencey and longevity, not to mention they also took a hardcore background and infused it with dub soundscapes to create a sound never heard before. the others, while some underrated, just dont have a body of work big enough to compare.

Repeater is one of the best, if not the best, album of the 1990s.

I'm not sure why. I bet a lot of people here don't have their album. I've been meaning to upload it. I think a lot of people here would dig it. |
