So has anyone heard this? Its supposed to be quite good. It has like an 89 over at metacritic. I criticized her on this board before because I thought she kinda sucked (alot). But then I heard some of her new stuff, a little bit of it, and it seems really different. Specifically I heard the track "Cosmia"?
Any thoughts? |

I can't get over it either, but some of the music is really, really good on it.

The new one is quite nice and her voice has been toned down a lot I think. It seems that way to me anyway.

I like it a lot. Van Dyke Parks arranged the string sections which is a good start. It's way better than her last record.

I don't own it yet, but I love what I have heard of Joanna Newsom. I'm going to buy it after Christmas.

My friend actually put his fist in his mouth and chewed on it in reaction to first hearing her sing.
I, personally, LOVE her. 'Milk Eyed Mender' woke me up with the sun shining through my window most mornings this past summer. It was lovely. Her new record.. I haven't given enough time too yet. I will, though. Maybe over Christmas. |

saw her live awhile ago, she played the new record start to finish. sawdust and diamonds was particularly beautiful. i like how her voice isn't so grating on Ys (albini?) but she sounds like snow white to me.
