I just hope that Joker is a no-holds-barred villian. And hopefully he's the main villian. The Scarecrow in the first one wasn't even the main villian. Batman barely fought him.

They should do a different villain. We already had a cool Joker in Jack Nicholson.

like the mad hatter.......
humpy dumpy....... the only thing that gives me comfort is that i trust christopher nolan and his directing ability. i think ledger will bring a new well rounded version of the joker. his roles in "a knight's tale", "cassanova", and "10 things I hate about you" gives him a depth that jack nicholson could never pull off.

that would be too wierd. Heath Ledger is too much of a pretty boy for the Joker.

I think the guy that played Nightcrawler in the X Men would make a great demented Joker

I think the Joker Christopher Nolan has in mind is a darker, grittier, less campy Joker than Jack Nicholson's. The Joker in the comics is a homicidal maniac, with a flair for theatrics, kind of like a twisted, evil version of Batman himself, like the Yang to Batman's Yin. The Joker in Tim Burton's Batman seemed a more theatrical attention seeker and less of a homicidal maniac. And although Tim Burton's Batman gothic Gotham and beautiful imagery helped to bring the Dark Knight into a visual aesthetic worthy of the Batcave, Christopher Nolan's Batman peeled back the layers and stared into the psyche of a man who dresses like a bat and battles against villainy and crime. Face it, Batman has become just as twisted and dark as the villains he fights, that is the only way he can fight them. I just hope Heath Ledger doesn't make this into Brokeback Batman.

I thought Jack Nicholson's Joker was plenty homocidal, but just a bit too campy you know? still, very good.

I liked the way Mark Hamill voiced the Joker in Batman: the animated series.
