Maybe not, but you can make one in exactly the same amount of time it takes to listen to one, so more are definitely on the way.
It was passé to me in the early 90s, but hey.

(I can still enjoy it if it's done well, but usually...yawn)

i just finished a cd, ive been working, slaving over it for a year. so its not just some throw away done in the time it takes to listen deal.

i really enjoy noise thats done well, on the surface it may seem like something that any kid could do, but to truely do something great and original takes patience, skill, and all those important things.

Yes, it can be done well and with consideration, but you have to admit this is a genre riddled with artists that have a problem with quality control and self-editing.
"Free folk" is the same way IMO.

and then you wanted to call it rainbow liberation, or even worse, liberation rainbow. that was really the icing on the cake.

Depends. Some noise can be made in a very spontenous way and it can be total fun.I'd say that the great majority of noise music made these days is meaningless to say the least and, yes,i've started thinking about this in the early 90s too.

"Free folk" is the same way IMO.

Actually it goes for nearly all kinds of music, so whats the point being made here about "noise" specifically? or any other "genre"...

rather simple, if you don't like it, just don't listen to it.

I guess you are correct. AMT have a problem in this regard, and they are hardly a "noise band."
I do find the crap-to-quality ratio of noise music to be higher though, at least in terms of what I want to hear.

as long as it's not boring crapola and shows imagination. not always the case, that's true, but isn't it the same with every genre? (not all genres may require imagination in equal measure; i just mean mediocrity abounds everywhere...)

I would wager that I have "explored" this genre of music for pretty much the entire duration of your life, and before.
Still, it's all personal taste, and yes, it is easy to be dismissive about noise due to its nature without being bothered to look deep enough to gain any real insight.

I do have to agree with you there... I have trouble w/ Acid Mothers also... i have 3 of their cds and thats enough for me... as for Merzbow, i was quite the fan in the nineties. i have over a dozen cds of his but i lost interest in his sheetmetal-with-contact-microphone-o-shards sound since about the turn of the century. his early work is more satisfying to me (i.e. Baztzatoui w/ Memorial Gadgets 2xLP)

funny i've been listening to alot of older Borbetomagus lately...i love how you can turn that shit way up volume-wise and hear all of the overtones they create w/ their guitar amp overdriven sax blare.

Perhaps it's because musicians in other genres actually trouble themselves to write songs. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but I think I might be onto something here.

Yes but ,CHRIST!!!!,we are talking specifically about noise here and,no,it's not particularly the same for every type of music.Gamelan music,to name just one type, doesn't suffer the same problems of meaningless output that the 'Noise' genre does.

Borbetomagus are hard to classify.
Are they noise? Are they extreme free jazz?
Depends on the listener, I guess. For me personally, I find noise to be easy to get excited about at first, but I have also found it has a faster rate of burnout. I have been listening to more Borbetomagus of late myself, having gone through a phase 10 or so years ago. I think it was because I recently go to see and spend smoe time with them, and they rekindled my interest through their unbelievable stamina and dedication to their craft.
