I AM NOT A GEEK
but I must admit I superlove the Metroid OSTs. Especially this track: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=5Zx5rkSGcwg (Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, underwater Torvus) it was also the music for Brinstar depths on Super Metroid http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzf74K...eature=related but I prefer the newest version. I had friends that listened almost only to videogames OST, and I thought it was uber bullshit (like they were "ooh Balloon Fight NES OST is pure genius" - and I'm not even joking, it's litteral transcription), but now Metroid OSTs rock. They totally get you into the game atmosphere. And I totally could see this underwater Torvus theme into an electronica/ambient album... Listen to the end of that "Dead Sea" Plaid track, it sounds very metroidish. That had to be said |

I remember there being a good track on Super Smash Brothers Melee, which was always played at one of Zelda's stages.

super metroid is my favorite game of all time..... and Metroid is the only series where I own EVERY game from it...
I have a sealed copy of the super metroid sound in action soundtrack cd... one of my prized posessions. I'm sure you can find it on soulseek. It has all the music from every Metroid game up to and including Super Metroid as well as orchestral versions of some Super Metroid themes. |

A lot of old videogame sndtrks ARE genius. Remember the limitations the composers had to work with (I'm talking NES era, etc). I mean the ZELDA theme is amazing. And a lot of the MEGA MAN tracks, too.

of course, I'd rank YUZO KOSHIRO (Actraiser/Streets of Rage/Beyond Oasis/etc) up there with Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, etc as far as soundtracks are concerned.
