I had a great time when I went to this a couple of years ago.
This year's line-up: Group Doueh (Sublime Frequencies; Western Sahara) Omar Souleyman (Sublime Frequencies; Syria) Vibracathedral Orchestra (VHF) Dicky Deegan Herb Diamante (Abduction) Pete UM (Gagarin) Part Wild Horses Mane on Both Sides (Singing Knives) John Clyde-Evans (Foxy Digitalis) The only one of those I've heard of is Vibracathedral Orchestra. Would anyone care to enlighten me about any of the others? |

Part Wild Horses Mane should be worth seeing. The tracks I heard by them had a really abrasive free-jazz kinda sound, I remember thinking the flute playing was really great.

The Palimpsest Festival, which was to take place on 30 May has been cancelled. According to the organisers the cancellation is due to a major overrun of planned works at All Saints Church along with asbestos being found there. No alternative venue could be found in Cambridge to accommodate the all day event. Despite this A Palimpsest Festival Cut Up will take place with Sublime Frequencies Extravaganza with Group Doueh & Omar Souleyman, plus SF DJs and Film, plus Pete UM + The Doozer 30 May, Cambridge Unitarian Church Hall 5 Emmanuel Road, 7PM, £10 advance click here for tickets. There are only 150 tickets, so act fast. Also, there's no bar so it's a BYOB (but no glass bottles).
