yesterday night I watched a marathon of his movies...
!wow, I remained really impressed, especially cos I had never heard of him. I may exagerate with comparison, but his movies reminded me of pasolini movies transplanted in philippines... Macho dancer is a jem-male prostitution in philippines never caught my interest like that. |

mpft.
this board really degenerated. all threads are about stupid things like "oh my god they banned him"" or "poll:how do you like you coffee" or "she/he is racist" and loads of shit. sad to see noone considered this thread about this author-a pearl, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to know him, is just that noone cares... last year (and before) all the board was full of threads like this, and it was interesting-I learnt a lot and discovered many moviemakers, records, etc. now the invasion of bored 14yrs old kids + trolls made of this thing a degerenative loss of time. I'm not saying I always posted intelligent, cultural, deep argumentations, but now... well, I dont find anymore what I used to be pleased to find. and now Come on! let's make a poll on how much hair you like in your partner's ass, c'mon!! |

Don't know much about him.
I've seen Stranger in Paradise & Cover Girls but that's about it. He's definitely made a lot of films that I'd like to see.

Filipino art is something I'm quite unfamiliar with... Do you have maybe a reference or starting point? It's kinda embarassing... I am from South East Asia.

Hey!I know cover girls--haha, some kitsch-80's iconography is gold on that movie!
yesterday I saw another one8inside the second part of that 8movies marathon)--- but it was more like a tv style one. it was about a jsut-married man who loses his wife in honeymoon and then she appears as a ghost. because Brocka explored many genres: from the gay-erotic-drama to family-movies.. what's stranger in paradise about? plus another thing: I never understand... what language do they talk? sometimes english (with that funny accent haha) and other times philippinian?'? is it a choice or does people in philippines talk like that? |
